Hypertension is a medical condition where blood pressure is high, forcing strongly against the blood vessel walls. This would increase the workload of the heart – causing it to work harder than it should. Hypertension could cause the blood vessels to explode which is fatal or other problems to the coronary arteries, eyes, kidneys and brain which is equally damaging.

There are two types of hypertension – primary and secondary. Primary hypertension is closely related to the patient’s lifestyle while secondary hypertension is caused by other medical conditions – kidney and liver failure are known to be causes of secondary hypertension.

Symptoms Of Uncontrolable Hypertension
These symptoms are not mandatory in condition of hypertension, but if you suspect or find it unsettling, do take a blood pressure test at your local medical center.

1. Chest pains – A heavy crushing pain in the chest; in layman’s term it feels like someone is standing on your chest.

2. Nosebleed

3. Urinal bleed – blood in urine.

4. Tiredness and regularly experience confusion

5. Changes or blurring of vision

Causes of Primary Hypertension and Prevention
Lack of physical activity: Most of the causes for primary hypertension are caused by the lifestyle factor. The lack of physical activity could, first of all, increase cholesterol levels. Rising cholesterol levels narrows the blood vessel, thus increasing the pressure of blood flow – hypertension.

Prevention can then be done maintaining a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity (jogging or walking) could reduce cholesterol induced hypertension. Taking precautions against diabetes could also help because diabetes are normally related to hypertension.

Tobacco products: It is uncertain whether it is the tobacco, or nicotine in tobacco products that are the exact cause of hypertension. But the facts are smokers are at higher risk of suffering from hypertension. This may be explained by the fact that nicotine increases blood pressure temporarily but there are arguments that nicotine patches do not increase blood pressure. No matter the case, anyone can prevent hypertension by staying away from tobacco products especially cigarettes and users – smokers.

Alcohol: The factual statistics shows that between 30% – 60% of alcoholics suffer from hypertension. Although there are no medically or scientifically proven tests that results in the conclusion that alcohol is a cause of hypertension, do use your common sense by judging the statistics and stay away from alcohols because it increases your risk of suffering hypertension.

Sodium: Excessive intake of salt or salty foods could lead to hypertension as sodium tends to increase the blood pressure. Notice that the term ‘tends to’ is applied. This is because only those who are sensitive or responsive to sodium would have their blood pressure react to excessive sodium intake. However, to play it safe, it is advisable to cut down on food intakes that contain high levels of salt such as salty snacks, pickled foods, processed foods, etc.

Cure high blood pressure

Stress: Blood pressure levels increase as stress increases. The only prevention for stress induced hypertension is to calm down and do not response to hectic circumstances. Take things less seriously or light, you health is far more important and therefore whatever that causes stress is just not worth your time or attention.

You have to be aware of the critical complications that you can encounter due to living with high blood pressure. Therefore, there are simple guidelines of things you should do and not do when living with hypertension. In this article I am going to cover a couple of things you should and should not do when living with HBP.

First and foremost, DO monitor your blood pressure (BP). You need to monitor your levels daily. These are several inexpensive monitors that you can buy and use anytime to check your pressure. When monitoring your levels, be sure to maintain a record of the readings to see if there any trends going on.

High blood pressure cures. DO maintain enough medicine on hand that is used to control and lower the pressure in your blood. Be sure to take your medications as directed and be sure to fill your prescriptions on time. Do not wait till you have one pill left. Pharmacies can be notorious for taking more than a day to fill a simple prescription. Don’t leave your life up to pharmacies.

DO have a doctor check up on a regular basis. Take the readings you have taken so he/she can have a look at them. Also, take your monitor so he can see that it is accurate at taking your blood pressure. By taking your readings to him, you wont fall prey to the white coat syndrome. This syndrome is when your BP rises above normal levels when the doctor is checking it. It happens because you are under pressure, duress of wanting to know if you have HBP or not.

Symptoms of high blood pressure and tongue numbness. DO Eat right. Eating right does not mean eating tasteless food. You can cook healthy, great tasting food at your house. You don’t have to spend a fortune either. When I say to eat healthy, I specifically mean to eat less sodium (salt) and increase your potassium intake. You also reduce the amount of processed foods that you consume. These are known to have high amounts of salt. So if you can eat healthier, you can lower your hypertension naturally.

DO exercise regularly. It is recommended that you exercise 30 minutes a day. While exercise itself increases BP, in the long run, it will cause your BP to lower down to normal levels. This is directly related to the weight loss and fat loss that will occur. Your blood vessels will have more room to expand and wont have much pressure on them.

DON’T sleep less. Sleep the right amount of hours. The right amount of hours to sleep is 8 hours. Don’t oversleep as well. Setup an alarm clock. Lack of sleep increases your stress levels which directly affects the pressure in your blood. Sleep deprivation also has other nasty side effects so make sure to get 8 hours of sleep, no less, no more.

DON’T drink and smoke. Don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke cigarettes. These causes the pressure in your blood to go up. While it may be hard to give up either one, there are several cessation programs available that you can join to help yourself quit these addictions.

High blood pressure is widely known as the "silent killer". Statistics have it that out of the fifty million Americans afflicted with hypertension, only an estimated of thirty million had proper diagnosis.

Symptoms Of High Blood Pressure And Tongue Numbness

In fact, most of those who were diagnosed did not visit their doctors to find cure or treatment for high blood pressure, but merely to acquire medical certification for a clean bill of health for insurance or employment purposes.

In some other cases, they may have submitted themselves to treat the symptoms of other disorders like heart attack, kidney failure, or other problems related to high blood pressure.

Essential Hypertension and Secondary hypertension

High blood pressure can be an offshoot of another major problem. If the proper high blood pressure cures and treatment methods of the main disease had been observed, blood pressure could have been prevented as a resulting complication. Based on statistics, less than 10% of diagnosed stem from another disorder and this is known as secondary hypertension.

On the other hand, the common form of hypertension we usually encounter is called essential hypertension. It is often the result of several factors such as heredity, lack of exercises, stress, excessive weight, or poor diet.

Except for heredity, the other causes are diet related wherein the excessive intakes of salt resulting to imbalance between sodium and potassium is the most common contributing factor.

However, high blood pressure does not happen overnight, but slowly creeps into your system. It may even take years to develop since the body is trying to adapt to the changes. Hence, the rest of the 50 million included in the survey but who have not submitted themselves for medical examination are endangering themselves from being victimized by the "silent killer".

What Causes High Blood Pressure?

To understand the acuteness of this disease, you should have a thorough understanding of what high blood pressure is, as well as the factors that causes it to take place. Controlling requires you to monitor your own blood pressure readings. For this purpose, it will be useful for you to know that the normal blood pressure among adults is 120 /80, read as 120 systolic and 80 as diastolic.

Methods Of Induction Of Hypertension

The heart’s function is to purify and pump out blood for distribution to the different body cells, tissues, muscles, and organs. In order to pump out the blood, a force known as systolic is needed by the blood to surge forward into the blood stream. The diastolic on the other hand is the pump pressure for producing fresh supply of blood.

However, certain dietary factors may cause some viscosity to our blood, or may harden or constrict our arterioles or render a great number of arterioles to be less receptive to the blood being pumped in, causing peripheral resistance to the flow of blood.

As a result, certain hormones will be released in an attempt to correct the impediments, or help the body cope with the imbalances and changes. If the pressure points will not be relieved, it will rise to a dangerous level, blood will be pushed just anywhere in order to find a release. This condition is simply known as hypertension, the "silent killer" disease.

A deeper understanding of the blood circulation process and the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle, can lead us to a wealth of information on how we can avoid becoming a victim of this "silent killer".

In case a person is already a hypertension sufferer, understanding how and why blood pressure rises can help you realize the possibilities of controlling your high blood pressure the natural way.

At the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Margo A. Denke, an Associate Professor of Medicine, conducted clinical research on the health effects of alcohol, and beer in particular. The results of her 2001 study found that moderate consumption of alcohol can lower risk of heart disease and stroke.

"The majority of more recent large population-based studies have observed that moderate drinking in the range of one to three drinks daily is associated with a 30-40 percent lower rate of coronary heart disease compared to non-drinking," wrote Dr. Denke. She cited several reasons for her findings. Methods Of Induction Of Hypertension

  • alcohol increases HDL and this could account for 30-50 percent of the moderate alcohol consumption benefit
  • alcohol increases bleeding time, acting as blood thinner and reducing the risk of coronary thrombosis
  • alcohol lowers insulin levels, which is good for non-diabetics because it reduces the chance of developing atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries

High Blood Pressure Cures

Dr. Denke believes that beer is a more beneficial alcoholic drink than spirits because beer contains many more nutrients per serving, such as protein and B-vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, cadmium and iron. She found that one to two beers a day provides 14 percent of dietary calories, 11 percent of dietary protein, 12 percent of dietary carbohydrates, nine percent of dietary phosphorus, seven percent of dietary riboflavin and five percent of dietary niacin.

A professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas, Normal D. Kaplan, has been conducting a forty year study on treatments for hypertension. He explained that as part of the study he had 70,000 female nurses drink moderate amounts of beer, wine or spirits. He pointed out that due to the process in which beer is made it is rich in B vitamins and foliates, which are found in leafy vegetables. He found that the nurses that drank the beer had less hypertension then those that drank the other types of alcohol.

According to the August 13th 2002 edition of the Wall Street Journal there are some health benefits to drinking beer. To treat the symptom of high blood pressure is more simple: some acupuncturists know that when certain acupoints are stimulated with needles, the elevated blood pressure will descend, so they always puncture on these points as soon as a diagnosis of hypertension is made; To treat the patienta s a whole is much more complicated, it must be based on differentiation of syndromes. An acupuncturist, by analysing the clinical phenomena of the cases, such as the symptoms and signs, including the pulse conditions and the tongue appearances, determine the type and nature of the case, and then choose an appropriate method to treat it.Chinese doctors have found that hypertension has four main types of syndromes:

1.Syndrome characterised by clinical phenomena such as dizziness, headache, flushed face and eyes, bitter taste in the mouth, restlessness, red tongue with yellow coating, taut and vigorous pulse.

2.Syndrome characterised by clinical phenomena such as headache, dizziness, dry mouth, restlessness, hot feeling in the palms and soles, palpitation, tinnitus, amnesia, sleeplessness, taut, thin and rapid pulse.

3.Syndrome characterised by dry and uncomfortable feeling of the eyes, dizziness, weakness of waist and legs, tinninus, hot feeling in the palms and soles, sleeplessness, red and dry tongue with little coating, thin and taut pulse.

4.Syndrome characterised by dizziness, headache, tinnitus, palpitation, tiredness, weakness of the waiste and legs, pale tongue with white coating, taut and thin pulse.

In China, the acupoints chosen most commonly to treat hypertension are divided into two groups according to their functions:The first group: those used to reduce the excessive yang. The second group: those used to supplement the insufficiency of the vital energy of the body (yin and yang).

In clinical practice, if the case is an excessive liver-yang syndrome, the first group of acupoints is chosen. If the case is a Yin -insufficient yang -excessive syndrome, both groups of acupoints are chosen to supplement the insufficiency. If the case is a Yin insufficiency syndrome of the liver and kidney, then the second group of acupoints are chosen, and reinforcing manipulation is used.

The treatment of hypertension by acupuncture has some advantages: for example, its effect is mild, the patients will not feel discomfortable when the elevated blood pressure is lowered. Furthermore, no side effects will appear when a patient is treated for a long time. However, it should be seen that the anti -hypertensive effects of acupuncture are limited. Generally speaking, its effects are better when the case is in the first stage. For those in the second stage or in the third stage, the effects are sometimes not satisfactory. Furthermore, for some complications of hypertension, its effects are not very good yet.
